Marcy Orendorff is a San Francisco Bay Area freelance writer and marketing communications professional with fifteen years experience serving healthcare, corporate and nonprofit clients. Her skills not only include freelance writing, but graphic design, public speaking and research. She provides powerful set of communication and marketing resources for her clients. An experienced speaker, she is an active member of Toastmasters International.

Marcy began her career in California  working in occupational healthcare in Silicon Valley assisting large corporations serve their employees’ safety needs. She most enjoyed  pinpointing client needs and matching them with the best menu of services.  It was then she began writing documents to communicate complex health care information to industrial clients and authored the company’s statewide training manual. As a member off several arts groups, she crafted advertising and graphic design pieces and headed up PR campaigns that drew thousands of visitors to events. Throughout her career she was involved with nonprofits, developing grants, presentations, and related materials. She took her communications skills a step further by creating a set of fifteen original paintings with accompanying text that was exhibited for six years by STAND Against Domestic Violence in Concord and in a number of other venues.

 Healthcare Writing and Editing 2013

Marcy is expanding her writing and editing services for the healthcare and wellness fields supplying custom content for physicians and health and wellness providers.

She is currently researching and writing a series of articles, blogs and how-to guides on feeling healthier and happier in your home using the latest scientific research as a guide:  best practices for evidence-based-design in residential interiors.  These materials will address the needs of “ordinary people,” as well as those with special needs i.e., the geriatric community, the autistic spectrum population, those with physical challenges, and others. She brings to this project a background in healthcare, a B.S. in psychology, and an interior design certification. Her interest in this project springs from an internship with Center for Health Design, an international think tank on healthcare design. Although the benefits are well documented and used in healthcare settings, this information, principles and practices are frequently overlooked in residential the design of residential settings.


Her art and written work has been featured in:
Artweek Magazine, on Oakland KTVU Channel 2, on Bay Area BackRoads and in multiple regional print and online publications. Her illustrations have been used in posters,  design, advertising, presentations, and logos.

Continuing Education: With graduate-level training in Social Media Communications, college coursework in journalism, and graphic design, and a B.S. in Educational Psychology, Marcy both writes and edits, and assists clients in educating their customers–a must for marketing in today’s social media milieu. She recently completed a UC Berkeley Professional Writing Certification course, Writing for Social Media, and continues to polish her writing and copyediting skills.
